2012 Chicago Auto Show – Kia Press Conference

Back in February I had the opportunity to do the design and presentation for the Kia press conference at the Chicago Auto Show. It was a great experience and finally found some decent video of the event. It is a long presentation but check out the YouTube video if you have a few seconds…The design was based on over the top 80′s style and we think the design complimented the vibe well.

Have you ever woken up with a shitload of creativity, a picture of an old industrial picture of Detroit and asked yourself, A. What am I going to make for breakfast and B. What can I come up with that might look interesting. Today I was blessed with this thought and hopefully conquered both of them. I had 2 eggs and toast with a shitload of vitamins and a shot of wheat grass (which is surprisingly sweet and horrible all at the same time). I also took some time after work to mess with what you see above. I had this amazing image of a steel plant in Detroit from the 1940′s and had no idea what to do, so I just started fucking around in Photoshop…hours later I basically created an album cover for myself as if I was a music artist. I have no idea what is going on here, but I have been looking into getting some music software so maybe subconsciously I was connecting the dots somehow. Anyways I am babbling beyond my normal ability, hope you dig!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I would have never thought that a little concept and an hour or two of work would turn into what it has for me. Over the past few months I have had 30,000-50,000 hits on my website all directed at my two helmet concepts for Michigan and Michigan State. I had some extra time today and decided to give anyone who wants them, some wallpapers…Have at it, pass it along, send it to your friends, etc.

I have included all 3 concepts in different orders so whether you are Green, Blue, confused, or just non Buckeye you can find something here to keep as your desktop screen. The Wisconsin Badgers need a new football helmet

Some people have seen my previous takes on Michigan and Michigan State helmets this past year. It was fun just playing around and throwing my two cents into the world of sports design. I was just watching the Rose Bowl and I couldn’t stop thinking about how brutal the Wisconsin W is. Oregon was the opponent and anyone who watched the game noticed the Darth Vader helmets and it just forced me to come on here and make a quick mockup of what could be a very simple change that already exists in the Wisconsin universe. Have a peek below and pass it along, it’s fun mocking up helmets from time to time…also if you are curious what other teams might look like in an alternate universe that need a design upgrade get ahold of me, love to mess with some new ones. And as always, GO BLUE!

The design features the band logo which has a retro feel and a more unique and timeless design. The outsides of the W would extend up to the center stripe of the helmet. The red center stripe would be broken up into two stripes similar to the current design and the face mask will be a metallic red. I am a fan of simple when necessary, and when it comes to Big Ten teams, I tend to think it works best. I hope you think the change is a simple and effective one.
